A Great Success for the Conference Celebrating 700 Years of the Corporation of Papermakers
A full house, strong participation, and great enthusiasm marked the conference and the presentation of the volume “The Pia Università dei Cartai, a Story That Continues. The Corporation of Papermakers for 700 Years (1326–2026)”, organized to celebrate the extraordinary milestone of seven centuries of history of the Corporation of Papermakers.
Hosted in the evocative Sala Forme of the historic Cartiere Miliani complex, the event offered an important opportunity for in-depth reflection on a tradition that is unique in the world, deeply rooted in the Fabriano area and still vibrant and meaningful today.
Following the institutional greetings, the speakers guided the audience through the key stages of this centuries-long history, highlighting the cultural, social, and economic significance of the corporation and its crucial role within the community over time. Their contributions conveyed, with both rigor and passion, the identity of a craft and tradition that continues to represent a shared heritage.
The large audience attended with great interest and engagement, contributing to a moment of strong collective involvement and confirming how the history of papermakers remains a living part of Fabriano’s identity and memory.
Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano, long committed to preserving and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of papermaking, is proud to have hosted and supported this initiative, developed in collaboration with the Pia Università dei Cartai and the Ente Palio di San Giovanni Battista.
Special thanks go to all those who contributed to the success of the event—speakers, organizers, and participants—whose presence made this celebration of 700 years truly meaningful, bringing together memory and future in the spirit of a tradition that continues.
