Editorial activity
Since 2012, the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation has continued the publishing activity initiated by the Pia Università dei Cartai with the series "Storia della carta" and by Cartiere Miliani S.p.A. - Fedrigoni Group with the series "L’Era del Segno". These two series are entirely dedicated to paper, unique in their kind in Italy.
The "Storia della carta" series, founded in 1986 by the Pia Università dei Cartai, with the sponsorship and support of the Cartiere Miliani of Fabriano and directed by historian Giancarlo Castagnari, brings together the studies and research of Italian and foreign historians. While 1986 marks the start of the publishing venture, 1990, with the release of the second volume, officially opens the series of books, both for the 8° format and for the sober and elegant editorial style.
The "L’Era del Segno" series, launched by Cartiere Miliani S.p.A. - Fedrigoni Group in 2003 with the bilingual (Italian-English) volume dedicated to "The Work of the Zonghi Brothers. The Era of the Sign in the History of Paper" - which adds to the other, Pietro Miliani Paper Manufacturer, published in 1963 by Andrea Gasparinetti - now counts four volumes with a precious editorial style featuring a hardcover and uncut edges on the internal paper, specially made in Fabriano by the round machine.
Since 2014, the Foundation has proposed the first "out of series" volume to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of "significant historical interest" of the Archive of the Cartiere Miliani Fabriano. Three more volumes will follow, including "The Signs of the Ancient Fabriano Paper Mills by Augusto Zonghi," which in 2024 received an Honorable Mention from the prestigious Compasso D'Oro ADI award.
