Casa Fedrigoni Open Day 2024
On Friday, June 14th, at Casa Fedrigoni in Verona, near the Fedrigoni Group's Verona plant, the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation presented to the public the results of the restoration work on the precious maps and late 19th-century projects preserved in the Fedrigoni Archive. The Archive, which is closely intertwined with Verona's history, was opened for visits. Two free events, open to all by reservation, were enhanced by the extraordinary presence of Fabriano's master papermakers, who demonstrated the ancient tradition of handmade paper production live.
In the morning, attendees had the opportunity to witness the presentation of the significant work done to secure and recondition twelve historical maps and projects from the Paper Mill, which were previously displayed on the walls of the Archive. In February, these documents were transferred to Fabriano to be restored at the Paper Conservation and Restoration Laboratory, created by the Foundation and overseen by Stefania Zeppieri (a restorer of books, archival materials, and works on paper). These documents, part of the archival series "Technical Equipment and Facilities" and related to projects commissioned by Fedrigoni Paper Mills to foreign companies at the end of the 1800s, had various damages due to handling, including microbiological damage caused by humidity and adhesive tape.
The presentation featured Giorgetta Bonfiglio Dosio, Professor of Archival Science, President of ANAI-Veneto, and Director of the journal "Archivi"; restorer Stefania Zeppieri; and Michele De Mori, President of the "A.G.I.L.E." Association and Coordinator of the ARCOVER project.
The initiative was also broadcast by Telearena, which dedicated a segment to Casa Fedrigoni Open Day.
