7th Edition of the "International Conference on Watermarks in Digital Collections"
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation hosted the 7th edition of the "International Conference on Watermarks in Digital Collections" at Casa Fedrigoni in Verona. Experts in watermarks from around the world gathered for this event, which took place from September 6-8, 2023.
The conference was held at the Biblioteca Capitolare and later at the Museo della Carta in Toscolano Maderno. It also included a visit to Casa Fedrigoni, the corporate archive of the Fedrigoni Group, managed by the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation, to explore the paper heritage inherited from the three main Fedrigoni paper mills in Verona, Arco, and Varone since 1888.

Three intense days with over twenty presentations on the latest watermark studies conducted by the École Nationale des Chartes - France, the National Gallery of Victoria - Melbourne, Australia, the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies - Iceland, the University of Ljubljana & Alma Mater EC Maribor - Slovenia, the University of Cambridge - UK, the Austrian Academy of Sciences - Vienna, and various Italian institutions (Universities of Udine, Padua, Turin).
In 2022, the Foundation hosted the 6th edition of the conference in Fabriano, marking the first time it was held in Italy. The event focused on the digital tools currently available for online consultation of the most important and famous watermark collections, including the Corpus Chartarum Fabriano, the Foundation's extensive project for digitizing Fabriano watermarks dating back to 1293.
The initiative was organized by the Fondazione Biblioteca Capitolare in Verona, together with the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften and the Museo della Carta in Toscolano Maderno, under the patronage of Assocarta - Confindustria and in collaboration with the Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano.
