Simone Bramante, Fabriano. Volti dalle Cartiere-Paper Mill Portraits
On Friday, November 11, at 5 PM, in the newly renovated premises of the Miliani Paper Mill Supermarket, the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation, in collaboration with FABRIANO, inaugurated the exhibition by Simone Bramante, "Fabriano. Volti dalle Cartiere - Paper Mill Portraits". This photographic narrative captures the faces, expressions, gestures, and memories of papermakers and those connected to the ancient paper mills, perhaps through the stories of their parents or grandparents.
The project by photographer and storyteller Simone Bramante, which can be admired over two consecutive weekends, November 12-13 and 19-20, originated from an open call to the citizens of Fabriano titled "Raccontami una storia" ('Tell Me a Story'). The aim was to collect and preserve the precious testimonies related to the work and workers of the Fabriano Paper Mill. From the enthusiastic response of the residents, Bramante identified 12 stories, iconographic narratives that, under the care of Umberto Giovannini and Beatrice Levorato, unfold into a single, grand thread, connecting the various stories and the city itself with the historical presence of the paper mill.
Special guest at the inauguration was Marco Montemaggi, Heritage Marketing Manager & Author, who has been dedicated to promoting Italian industrial heritage, and was one of the signatories for the establishment of Museimpresa in 2001, serving as the director of the Ducati Museum.
The event is part of the national calendar of initiatives for the XXI Week of Business Culture, promoted by Confindustria and Museimpresa, the National Association of Business Museums and Archives. Bramante's project is a significant step in his investigation and documentation of business museums, fitting well with this year's theme, "Scuola d'impresa," which emphasizes the transmission of knowledge through generational relationships and the sharing of expertise, fundamental to the work in Fabriano's paper mills.
The initiative received free sponsorship from the Municipality of Fabriano, the Marche Region, the Pia Università dei Cartai, the CARIFAC Foundation, Passeggiando tra la storia, and the Opificio della Rosa.
