The new headquarters of the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency of the Marche was inaugurated in Ancona.
A significant moment for the region and for the archival sector, celebrated in the presence of Superintendent Benedetto Luigi Compagnoni and Sabrina Mingarelli, Director of Service II of the General Directorate for Archives (DGA).
The event was attended by the Directors of the State Archives and representatives of some of the most important archives and libraries in the Marche region, who contributed to discussions on archives and archival science, offering valuable perspectives on the future of documentary preservation.
Among the speakers was also Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano—represented by Director Livia Faggioni—which, since 2011, has been responsible, on behalf of Fedrigoni S.p.A., for the care of the Historical Archive of the Cartiere Miliani Fabriano.
This archive is unique of its kind: the first corporate archive in Italy to be officially declared of “considerable historical interest” on July 20, 1964. This recognition was granted by then Superintendent Prof. Elio Lodolini, not due to the risk of dispersion of the documents dating back to 1782, but because of its exemplary value—so that it could serve as a model for other companies, encouraging them to preserve their documentation as the future historical memory of their business.
An important occasion to reaffirm the strategic role of archives in shaping identity, knowledge, and the future.
