Workshop "Traditional Japanese techniques and materials for the restoration of works on paper”

“Traditional Japanese techniques and materials for the restoration of works on paper” is the title of the workshop promoted by the Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano which took place in the Conservation and Restoration Laboratory inaugurated by the Foundation in 2023 in the Historic Complex of the Fabriano paper mills, curated by the restorer Stefania Zeppieri.

Conservators from all over Italy gathered in Fabriano and through theoretical and practical lessons held by Professor Maria Vera Quattrini, an expert conservator of works on paper, with a long experience in Japan, they were able to study and practice traditional Japanese restoration techniques.

“Paper” is thus an ideal bridge between East and West, which through restoration combines innovation and tradition, guaranteeing a future for works on paper admired and studied by future generations.

The initiative is promoted by the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation in collaboration with FEDRIGONI, Stefania Zeppieri, Associazione InArte, Fabriano InAcquerello, with the free patronage of the Municipality of Fabriano, the Marche Region, the Superintendency of Archives and Bibliography of the Marche Region, the CARIFAC Foundation, the Japanese Institute of Culture, the Pia Università dei Cartai.
