Fabriano between paper and watermark | 20-22 September 2024
On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, the Fabriano Paper Pavilion opened its doors to the public again with free workshops and activities to immerse yourself in the culture and art of papermaking, including walks through the historic and production sites and seminars on paper, watermark and digital. All this was preceded, on Friday 20, by the presentation of the latest editorial project of the Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation: the volume “Fabriano between paper and watermark. Tradition, expansion and innovation”, the second dedicated to Fabriano paper and watermarks after the first printed edition of the album “I segni delle antiche Cartiere fabrianesi di Augusto Zonghi”, published in 2021, which in June received the Honorable Mention of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI award.
Over the same weekend, the Fabriano brand in collaboration with the Foundation organized the free workshop “Traditional Japanese bindings: creations with Fabriano paper”, two events held by the restorer Stefania Zeppieri in the Paper Conservation and Restoration Laboratory. Furthermore, on Sunday, the Fabriano Paper Mills Historic Complex was one of the stops on the “La via della carta” route, born from the collaboration between Municipality of Fabriano, Museum of paper and watermark of Fabriano, Fedrigoni Fabriano Foundation, Passeggiando tra la Storia, Fabriano Storica and the Pia Università dei Cartai: with a guide it was possible to walk along the thematic path that connects museums, fulling mills, factories, historical and production sites, starting from the Paper Museum, crossing the San Lorenzo district and ending at the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, known as the “paper makers’ church”.
With these initiatives, the Foundation has entered the program of “Fabriano. Carta è Cultura”, the paper festival in its second edition, promoted by the Municipality of Fabriano and the Marche Region.
